Sophie Verger, learn more about the artist

Born in Paris in 1953, Sophie Verger discovered sculpture at a very early age, which she studied at the École Nissim de Camondo and then at the Beaux-Arts de Paris, encouraged by Étienne Martin. After several years of studio work and experimentation, she exhibited for the first time in Paris in 1991. Her sculpture, both poetic and narrative, mixes human figures and animals, often imbued with humor or strangeness. The animal theme gradually became central to her work, which she expressed in bronzes, mythical series, and tender or comical scenes. Present in numerous private collections in Europe and the United States, Sophie Verger exhibits regularly in France, Belgium, Germany, and the Netherlands. Her unique and sensitive world gently questions our relationships with others—humans and animals alike.
