Artigasplanas, learn more about the artist
Joan Artigas Planas, a Spanish sculptor born in 1960, graduated from the School of Fine Arts in 1985, has been teaching sculpture since 1988 at the Barcelona School of Art. His figures dream, listen, rise... but never fall from their pedestals. "Woman," the central theme of his work, is endlessly expressed—because she is infinity, the artist confides. He celebrates her through a palette ranging from blue-green to red, between softness and intensity. At Artigasplanas, composition transcends bronze. Space, material, and bases—often made of Corten steel—become an integral part of the work, powerful yet always balanced. From wall sculptures to those on bases, he creates with constant energy. His works have been included in numerous collections and have traveled from Spain to France, from Denmark to Norway.
